POPA 2


This community has a population of more than 200 inhabitants, who essentially live in houses constructed of wood and roofs of palm.

It is populated in his totality by families ngobe, whose origin is of Bahia Azul, Shark Hole, Cricamola, San Lorenzo, Cayo Agua, Popa 1, Isla Tigre and Santa Catalina. It is arrived by sea at the community, being the boat with oar the means of transport commonest between his settlers.

The ways in the community are not paved, with exception of a small cement path that link the dock and the school of the community.

The main occupation is the diving for lobster, the fishing and the agriculture. At the moment it exists in the community a farm that raise chickens for meat and eggs.

In addition, one is on the verge of finalizing a restaurant and a cabin for lodging, both handled by a local women organization, who also offer handicrafts and visits to the rail in the forest and in the mangrove.
