Bocas del Toro is rich and diverse in natural resources and this characteristic is the most important reason for the development of the tourist activity in the region.

But, without some kind of protection, without some kind of order in the management and uses of the resources, tourism and other activities that depend on it, will produce a negative impact on these valuable ecosystems, jeopardising the future prosperity of the islands.
