In the northeast tip of the Bastimentos Island there is a place that it is going to be soon a village but for now is a group of houses, most of them of foreigners, that are taking advantage of the beauty of the site, offering some businesses to the visitors that arrive here.
This place, Old Point (Punta Vieja), is located just in front of the Zapatillas Cays and at short distance of the Salt Creek community. Usually is part of a tour that involves both sites but there are enough amenities to kip busy any visitor.
A coral reef with very interesting formations in the way of underwater channels is in the north part (towards the open sea) of the site. It is a good for snorkelling and diving.
At short distance there are good places where to surf and, also, a trail that connects Old Point with Salt Creek is a good way to known the wetland and rain forest of Bastimentos. A visit to Salt Creek community is good to be introduced to the ngobe indians culture.
