Long Beach is located at the northeast end of Bastimentos Island, being the main beach of the Marine Park.
This beach competes with the best on the Archipelago, due to is size and wild beauty.
Four species of marine turtles come to nest during the monthes of april to october: the leatherbacks, the hawksbill, the green and the logerhead. Each turtle lays between 60 and 150 eggs in a hole that makes using their flips. The nests are well protected by volunteers part of the conservation groups of the region.
Access is not easy, by land or by sea, due to the heavy surf (is in the open sea) and the fact that thick forest encroaches
upon the very edge of the sand. The community of Salt Creek manage a trail that reaches de beach in about one hour walking.
