If there is a beach that is property of the people of the Bocas del Toro Town, this is La Cabana Beach, also known as The Istmito Beach or La Feria Beach.
Anybody in town can walk (15 minutes) to this beach and spend the day there, laying on the sun, playing soccer or volleyball, basketball or just walking or running. A taxi from downtown ($ 0.50 - 5 minutes) is another option for the people that doesn't want to walk when the sun is heating. La Cabana Beach is the only beach you will see buisy everyday.
The beach itself begins in the arc that wellcome the visitors to the Sea Fair of the year. Yes, the Bocas del Toro Sea Fair is held here, in the street adjacent to the beach, every year during September.
And the beach ends almost in front of the Smithsonian Institutions Lab, another reason to visit the place. Smithsonian offers guided tours (free) on fridays and saturdays, to show not only the facilities but also to introduce visitors on the ecosystems that are neighbours of the station.
In the street where the Sea Fair is held, that is no more than a part of the road between Bocas del Toro and Boca del Drago, there are several options to get a meal or a drink in any time of the year, like "Los Amigos", "La Feria" and others.
