Just a few minutes by boat from Boca del Drago, toward the open sea, is Birds Island (Swan's Cay), a bird sanctuary that attracts the beautiful and unique tropic bird, with their snow white color, long tail and orange beak, the funny looking boobies, the graceful frigates, those thieves of the sea, the clever pelicans and seagulls, all of them making the island their place to stay.
Only boobies and tropic birds nest on the cay, the first making their nests everywhere on the ground. Tropic Birds nest in holes on the walls of the rocky formations.
To avoid disturbances to the birds, disembarking on the island is not allowed, nor recommended.
