If you are at Boca del Drago, renting a boat or using the same the brought you there, you can make a course by the very beginning of the San San Pond Sak Wetland, declared of International Importance by the RAMSAR organization.
The idea is to cross the sea that are between Boca del Drago and the main land and enter in the well known Soropta Channel, an artificial channel made by the United Fruit Company at the beginning of the XX Century, when the banana plantations in the islands were in their high intensity.
The channel was used to transport the fruit between Boca del Drago and Changinola using the rivers and channels of the region of the protected area, to avoid the transit by the open sea.
Today, a course by this old aquatic way will bring you a fascinating view of a healthy wetland, with the typical fauna of this ecosystem: water birds, small mammals and aphibeans, adding the spectacular colors of the trees, fruits and flowers.
